Nigeria-Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) Relations


Nigeria is a Member of the Organization Of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), hitherto ACP, established on 6th June, 1975. In furtherance of its policy on South-South Cooperation, Nigeria continues to support the work of OACPS. There are ongoing cooperation between Nigeria and OACPS in the areas of strengthening OACPS Member States’ diaspora communities; engagement through forums and conferences which would further encourage development in their countries of origin, as well as their host countries. Nigeria’s NIDCOM (Nigerians in Diaspora Commission) and Technical Aid Corps (TAC) programme provide tools for effective South-South Cooperation.

The Embassy has been engaged in the OACPS Council of Ministers meetings, full membership of the OACPS Business Forum, Investment and Private Sector Committee, Committee on Political, Social, Economic and Cultural matters and observatory membership status in OACPS Parliamentary Assembly, the OACPS – EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, and sundry committees.
